For anyone who feels their HDTV is a little out of date, there is now a way to upgrade it without having to invest in a brand new set thanks to the latest product offering by global giant Samsung.

The inTouch camera system has been unveiled by the group’s video and security specialist arm, Samsung Techwin, and boasts Wi-Fi technology, high-definition video and an array of preloaded apps including Skype. The system, which the company markets as ‘elegant and compact’, can be placed securely on top of a TV set and requires one HDMI cable to hook it up, bringing internet-connected TV to any living room or boardroom.

Samsung Techwin America’s vice president of sales and marketing, Mike Palazzolo, remarks, ‘While internet-connected HDTVs are now common, not every household gets to experience this fun and interactive feature, especially if they purchased their HDTV just a few years ago.’

A loafer’s dream, the device lets you keep in touch with people through Skype thanks to its embedded microphone and speakers, take pictures or use your television as a giant high-definition photo frame.

You can also access your email and other features while you lounge in front of the television. The device will be available from March and will retail for $199.99 (£130).
