Twitter has acquired London-based AI company, Magic Pony Technology, o strengthen Twitter’s own tech prowess in the AI space.

Magic Pony’s technology relies on unique algorithm that can enhance blurry images and fill in the blanks in images that are missing elements. According to Twitter’s chief executive, Jack Dorsey, Magic Pony’s team will be joining Twitter Cortex, a team of engineers, data scientists, and machine learning researchers dedicated to building a product “in which people can easily find new experiences to share and participate in.”

The acquisition builds on other investments Twitter has made in machine learning, beginning with the acquisitions of Madbits in July 2014 and Whetlab in June 2015.

The Silverpeak team, led by Pietro Strada, advised Octopus, who were the largest institutional investor in Magic Pony following an initial investment in the summer of 2015 and a further funding round earlier this year.

Further terms were undisclosed.
