On the up – Text Anywhere SMS solutions

Text Anywhere provides SMS (short message service) solutions to the business and public sector communities and is growing at the rate of 20 per cent each year.

The company, founded two years ago and backed by business angel investment and funds from the two founders – Nick Payne and Anthony Bert – secured 85 revenue-generating clients in the first two months of trading.

It now has close to 1,500 customers and Payne claims that ten new ones are added every day. Customers range from corporates such as Shell and Sainsbury’s to sole traders and public sector bodies.

One is Fife Council, which has used the service to provide information to residents about a range of local services, such as alerting parents to school closures because of bad weather and when pupils play truant.

‘Our biggest challenge is to ensure that as we grow, we don’t lose sight of why we started. Businesses are starting to wake up to the fact that SMS is an obvious, but so far unexploited method of communication,’ believes Payne.
