Tony Lutwyche, 'London's Bespoke tailor', reveals his decision to buy a workshop transformed his company.
Tony Lutwyche, 'London's Bespoke tailor' and managing director of Lutwyche Holdings, reveals a snap decision to buy a failing workshop transformed his company.
'Cheshire Bespoke is a workshop making men’s suits using traditional methods and has been around since the 1930s.
In 2006, the previous company became insolvent. I went up to Crewe and made the decision that day to put the business back together. Setting up a tailoring workshop requires capital investment in machinery. I put everything on the line to ensure it happened.
While I had faith, historically there had been a decline in clothing manufacturing in the UK.
But this bucked the trend. It transformed Lutwyche from being a bespoke tailor serving a limited number of clients and built on something that England has a fabulous reputation around the world for – tailoring.'
