Although I’m not an Eastern mystic, I found that after reflecting on many of the pearls of wisdom in this book that I’ve always known about them. The advice is commonsense and it made me think about how important doing some very simple things can be, in life and in business.

The book forces you to ponder on how you can make things better in less than obvious ways. His Holiness talks about self-confidence and how it is linked to potential – in business I think this is about building up people’s confidence to enable them to be more productive. Morale in business is an important subject. I particularly liked his advice on smiling and how it’s illogical to expect a smile from others unless you smile yourself. For me this means taking time out at stressful times to go round the office chatting with staff and pervading a relaxed air of confidence. It will boost morale.
