Post: Employee satisfaction surveys

Q)  How can an organisation achieve results through employee satisfaction surveys?

Answered by Lee Weavers

It doesn’t matter how detailed and well designed the questionnaire is if the response rate is poor. Organisations can take action to help increase the response rate by doing the following: • Publicising the survey in advance • Involving employees in the design of the survey • Making sure that line managers support the survey and are fully briefed • Allowing employees enough time to complete the survey • Anonymous questionnaires Once orgnisations have received the completed questionnaires it is important that employees know any underlying problems will be addressed. Circulating a summary of the results, keeping employees updated on any action that is being taken, and getting feedback on actions and changes will help. It is important to work with employees to ensure the changes reflect their needs – only then will motivation and commitment levels improve.
