Small firms to meet with government
Article Date: Jan 22 2009Small businesses are to meet with government today in south Wales to discuss how firms can cope with the recession.
The firms will gather in Newport to meet with government leaders to discuss the conference theme of Firing up the British Economy.
Speakers appearing at the event will include Baroness Vadera, small business minister, Kenneth Clarke, newly-appointed business minister, and Ieuan Wyn Jones, first minister for Wales.
The Federation of Small Businesses chairman John Wright will also speak at the seminar, with motions such as the full nationalisation of British banks being discussed.
Ahead of the event Mr Wright says: 'Conference 2009 will give small business owners the chance to debate issues highly relevant to them.'
He adds that it will give many small firm owners the information they need to survive the coming difficult year.
Business bosses in Shropshire will talk with banks in a similar meeting this week, to discuss ways the companies can work together to help the area out of the recession.
The Shropshire Business Board called the meeting, with Bank of England officials also expected to attend.
