Rights Tracker’s funding boost

Article Date:  Nov 07 2008

A company that designs intellectual property management systems is to push forward with the development of its products after securing new funds.

Rights Tracker, which helps television companies to exploit their intellectual property rights, received an undisclosed sum from a consortium of investors.

The funds were provided by The Capital Fund, a venture capitalist backing small companies in Greater London, and The Creative Capital Fund, an equity firm targeting the creative industries. The deal included additional support from angel investors.

The new funds will be used to expand Rights Tracker’s sales and marketing operations as well as continuing the technical development of its systems.

Rights Tracker chief executive Ross Bentley said the company has a great product and he is now boosting its profile to win new clients. “Looking to the future, Rights Tracker plans to extend its systems beyond broadcasting to other sectors, such as music and publishing.”

The Capital Fund’s investment was co-ordinated by manager Benjamin Davis, with Chris Blake handling the Creative Capital Fund’s interest.

Davis said he is backing a product that has enormous potential in the broadcast industry and could be used in other sectors. “We’re looking forward to helping Ross and the team take the company forward.”

Rights Tracker’s software records and organises a company’s IP rights and contracts, while identifing any areas where rights can be exploited. It allows a user to maximise licence revenue while minimising the administration involved in the management of such assets.
