Resource upgrade at Centamin
Article Date: Oct 15 2008Gold play Centamin Egypt has increased the estimated gold resource at its Sukari project to 9 million oz.
The Western Australia-based company says assay results from 14,076 metres of drilling have caused it to increase the measured and indicated resource at Sukari by five per cent on July’s estimate to 9.01 million oz of gold. Another 3.3 million oz of ‘inferred’ resources takes the potential total to 12.3 million oz and the assay results include 10 metres at an impressive 45.9 grammes of gold per tonne of ore, 22 metres at an encouraging 14.26 grammes a tonne and 81 metres at 4.07 grammes a tonne.
Shares in Centamin, which rose from 15.5p in 2005 to 78.25p last February, have more recently been in retreat, falling to 23p not so long ago. Now 33.25p, up 2.5p today, they value the company at £292.3 million, and should outperform some in the sector.
