Fleming launches six 'growth' funds

Article Date:  Jul 01 2000

Fleming Asset Management is offering investors a clutch of new funds focused on the industries and markets it expects to be the major growth and development areas over the coming years. Life Sciences, Global Smaller Companies, Pacific Technology, German Opportunities, European Strategic Value and European Strategic Growth are going to be the money-spinners of tomorrow, argues the City of London-based international fund management group.

Fleming claims its European Growth and European Strategic Value funds are among the first 'style investments', allegedly fashionable in the USA, to be offered to UK investors. Fund manager Andrew Spencer says; 'we see style funds becoming increasingly popular as investors realise that extreme growth and extreme value both outperform market averages in the long term'.

In Europe, Fleming believes Germany represents among the most attractive investment opportunities. Elsewhere, the Asia Pacific region is seen as set for dramatic expansion.

Among industry sectors, the Fleming team is particularly enthused by small capitalised companies and life science concerns. Sandeep Bhargava, fund manager at Fleming Global Smaller Companies Fund, comments: 'Continued low interest rates and the technological revolution have led to a strong environment for growth for small and medium-sized companies.'

All six funds form part of the Luxembourg-based Fleming Fund range. This used to be known as Fleming Flagship Funds, until it was re-branded on June 2.
