Metcalfe in mining comeback

As foreshadowed by Growth Company Investor, ex-Minmet boss Jeremy Metcalfe has raised £3 million for coal play Strategic Natural Resources.

Broker Hichens Harrison has raised the money at 30p for Strategic, whose local subsidiary, Elitheni, has prospecting rights over 9,300 hectares in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. Fellow entrepreneur Peter Earl is on the board of the company, which cites a resource estimate of up to 15 million tonnes of coal.
