Argyll lands Cisco contract
Article Date: Mar 20 2001Innovative marketing and public relations specialist Argyll Consultancies has won a contract to provide a pan-European 'media audit' for internet leader Cisco, writes Robert Tyerman.
Argyll's Kaizo division has been commissioned by Cisco to conduct 140 interviews across Europe with broadcast and business press as well as specialist information technology publications. Cisco's Imogen Bailey explains fulsomely: 'we chose Kaizo because they combine a research capability with a special understanding of the value of the right message to communicate our difference'.
Bailey does not speculate about how Kaizo would have handled the presentation of Cisco's recent series of warnings about its own problems in the e-commerce sector, lay-offs and all. But, of all the companies in the internet sector, Cisco remains one of the best with which to hope to do remunerative business.
Floated on Ofex in November 1999 at 290p a share, Argyll has thrived. Pre-tax profits for the year to March 2000 rose by £29,000 to £280,000 on marginally reduced turnover of £2.9 million, and this year's interim results showed a pre-tax profit surge from £43,000 to £317,000 on turnover up 46 per cent to £1.9 million.
The shares have risen to a new high of 640p this year. They could go further.
