Atlantic Coal in £0.3m placing

Article Date:  Aug 10 2009

US-focused Atlantic Coal has raised £280,000 at 0.66p for open-cast production and processing in Pennsylvania.

The AIM-quoted company owns the Stockton Colliery, an ‘established non-union mine’, covering 900 acres in Pennsylvania’s Hazle Creek Valley and holding an estimated reserve of four million tonnes. Mining from a ‘high-quality mammoth seam’, London-headquartered Atlantic, steered by managing director Stephen Best, says independent experts support estimates of a ten-year mine life from existing reserves, with production running at an average 400,000 tonnes a year.

Floated at 2p three years ago, Atlantic’s shares fell to a mere 0.33p at one point over the past 12 months. They have rallied somewhat to 0.65p, valuing the company at £8.7 million.
