Woodspeen buys Yorkshire training company
Article Date: May 06 2009Woodspeen Training Plc, a UK-based vocational training scheme, has acquired A&R Training Services, a government-sponsored vocational training company based in West Yorkshire, for up to £3.1 million in cash and loan notes. The majority of the transaction will be funded from Woodspeen’s existing cash resources, with the balance to be made up of some £1 million raised in an open offer to qualifying shareholders at a price of 10p per share.
A&R runs apprenticeships for teenagers and adults. It also specialises in occupational programmes in childcare, health and social care and customer service. In addition, the Yorkshire company also operates New Deal programmes aimed at the long-term unemployed.
The acquisition of A&R is Woodspeen’s second acquisition since it was admitted to PLUS Markets in March 2008. The company is implementing a buy-and-build strategy of acquiring training companies to create a large UK vocational training business.
