Brulines fired-up with petrol data deal

Article Date:  Oct 27 2008

A technology company that develops systems to monitor drinks sold on draught in pubs and bars has moved into a new market following its latest acquisition.

Brulines has extended its leisure interests into the petrol forecourt sector after buying Edensure for £220,000 in cash.

James Dickson, Brulines chief executive, describes the deal as a “natural extension” of its core operations.

He added that the board intends to expand Edensure’s operations in the UK’s petrol forecourt market. “We will help drive Edensure’s growth in this space. There will be benefits to existing customers due to Brulines’ national infrastructure, data analysis ability and reporting expertise.”

At the end of June this year, Sunderland-based Edensure’s software was used by two per cent of the petrol forecourt data management market.

Brulines’ previous acquisitions have included Nucleus Data, operating in the licensing trade, and Coin Metrics, which helps companies monitor the financial performance of their gaming sites.

Stockton-on-Tees-based Brulines’ systems are used in more than 22,000 pubs, capturing information for licensees, operators, owners and brewers. Its products include Brand Quality Monitoring, which scrutinises the quality of draught products; measuring volume, temperature and flow rate.

Edensure, established in 2002, supplies information to independent, multi-branded owners and supermarket petrol forecourt operators.
