Albion seeks £25 million for VCT

Article Date:  Jun 18 2009

Venture capital trust manager Albion Ventures, formerly known as Close Ventures, is offering up to £25 million of ‘D’ shares in its Development VCT.

This would create a new class of shares in the VCT, which has raised more than £33 million since it was created in 1999. The ‘D’ shares will eventually merge with the ordinary shares.

The valuation of investments held by Albion Development VCT declined by 15 per cent last year, at the end of which it held more than a quarter (27 per cent) of its assets in cash.

Albion Ventures was spun out of investment bank Close Brothers in January in a management buy-out led by managing director Patrick Reeve.
