Conveyancer raises recession war chest

myhomemove, a provider of conveyancing services, is eyeing acquisition opportunities after raising £3.25 million from existing backer Smedvig Capital.

Smedvig first invested in The Move Factory, the holding company of myhomemove, in 2005. Ian Floyed, CEO of myhomemove, says the latest round of funding ‘ensures that we remain able to continue developing our business’ as well as allowing the company to seek out acquisition opportunities presented ‘by this more challenging economic environment’.

Alistair Cairns, Smedvig’s managing director, comments, ‘This investment reiterates our willingness to invest in strong businesses and support high calibre management teams through the economic cycle.’

Leicester-based myhomemove offers its service through a network of estate agents and mortgage advisers. It claims to offer a faster service than its competitors, especially in handling leasehold properties where it acts on both sides of the same transaction through different legal teams.
