A new website aimed at providing intellectual property research materials to investors and businesses in the South East of the UK has been launched by a group of institutions including The National Physical Laboratory, and the Universities of Surrey, Reading and Sussex.
The purpose of South East IP is to collate research from five institutions, making it available to businesses and investors in an 'easy-to-search' format.
Funding for the project, to the tune of £75,000, has come from the UK Intellectual Property Office.
According to a statement, the key focus of the new website will be to provide a single place for investors and companies looking for specific technologies, to look for intellectual property from a collection of institutions in the South East.
Additionally it hopes to encourage collaborations and joint funding applications.
David MacCallum, intellectual property officer at the University of Surrey, comments, 'For the first time, details of new techniques and technologies developed at our five partner institutions have been brought together in one place, and in a form that investors and businesses can search to find the opportunities they are looking for.
'This is a big step forward for the whole region in matching technology research in the South East with investment, and we are excited to be a part of it.'
