Discount restaurant and local activities website mycitydeal.co.uk has received €4 million (£3.5 million) from early-stage investors.

Mycitydeal.co.uk was launched earlier this month and offers discount prices on activities for groups of three or more. The majority of the funding from eVenture Capital Partners, Holtzbrinck Ventures and Rocket Internet will be used to support the London-based sales teams and on financing a national advertising campaign.

Martin Weber, managing director of Holtzbrinck Ventures, says: ‘mycitydeal.co.uk provides its users with a unique range of offers from their local area. Whether it is a hotel, restaurant or sports activity, mycitydeal.co.uk represents a completely no-risk opportunity to acquire new customer groups online.’

The company was founded by entrepreneur Christopher Muhr and employs 15 people. Muhr says: ‘Our investors have already successfully helped a number of strong start-up companies such as studiVZ or MyVideo, and they can offer us fantastic support with their experience.’
