Loewy acquires Rainier PR

Marketing agency Loewy has acquired technology consultancy Rainier PR, including its sister agencies Lighthouse PR and Custard PR. By joining forces with Rainier PR, Loewy says it now has a combined team of around 150 people, including integrated marketing and branding services.

Loewy CEO Charlie Hoult comments: ‘Many PR companies are full of hot air. What attracted us to Rainier PR was its ability not only to come up with great creative ideas – but deliver on them spectacularly. Plus the way it organises teams and treats its people mean progressive growth does not come at the expense of client service. '

The move follows a number of acquisitions by Loewy which first gained a foothold in public relations when it bought consumer PR agency BMA Communications in September 2005.

Loewy has 40 people in its technology division servicing clients including Vecta, Filenet and Computacenter. Rainier PR will, Loewy states, complement its own technological capabilities.

Stephen Waddington, managing director of Rainier PR, says: ‘We had no need to sell, but this deal will accelerate our growth by giving us instant international capabilities and the ability to provide integrated, holistic marketing services to our clients.’

Loewy states that it is in the process of building a full service integrated business through mergers and it anticipates announcing several other deals in the next few months.

‘The sector is growing fast and this deal means we will have an incredibly strong grip on the market. Moreover, the Rainier PR management team is a valuable new talent pool to help us shape the future of Loewy,’ says Hoult.
