Debt funds MBO of packing business
Contract packer AE Adams is to complete a management buy-out (MBO) using an invoice discounting facility provided by commercial finance specialist Venture Finance. A funding line of £400,000 has been made available to the company, which will now be led by managing director Tony Milner.
Tony Tydeman, business development manager at Venture Finance, who led the deal, says: ‘[AE Adams] is a longstanding family-run business with the granddaughter of the company’s founder, Arthur Adams, part of the incoming MBO team.’
Established in 1955, the formerly family-owned business has always been self-financing, but required additional funding to support the MBO.
Milner comments: ‘We experience tough market competition with cheaper service providers based in the Far East and Eastern Europe, [but] we maintain our business by consistently providing high-quality products and a reactive service.’
West Sussex-based AE Adams provides a contract manufacturing and packing service to companies in the UK and overseas. It specialises in household, automotive and personal care products such as shampoos and conditioners, carpet cleaners and car air fresheners.
