The MPMan MP-CS155

Billed as ‘the king of the inexpensive MP3/video players’, this little gadget is certainly a lot cheaper than our own Royal Family at £39.99. It plays both music and video clips, and has a built-in voice recorder.

You won’t be using it to store all your favourite movies, because it has just 1GB memory: enough to store 250 MP3 songs, 500 WMA songs, or three hours of video on continuous play. A version with 2GB memory is also available, and the manufacturer MPMan say the 4GB version will be launched next year.

What it lacks in capacity it makes up for in size at just one centimetre thick, with a 1.5 inch (3.8 cm) colour display.

It also doubles as a storage device and can carry digital photos so they can be viewed on the go.
