Stars are key to business

Article Date:  Mar 31 2006

You can work hard building up your business, gain qualifications galore and employ great staff but your star sign may have the final say about whether you’re a good boss, according to recent research.

Workplace issues specialist Croner, which conducted the study, believes it could help managers identify the most harmonious and productive team dynamic by providing an insight into why employees behave the way they do.

It found that the best bosses were inclusive and motivational Aquarians, lively and energetic Leos and patient yet determined Taureans. On the downside, the worst managers were inflexible Capricorns, unpredictable Pisceans and, bottom of the pile, indecisive and directionless Librans.

‘All workplaces have personality clashes and, judging by our study, they could be prevented or easily solved just by understanding the fundamental characteristics of each star sign,’ says a spokesman from Croner. ‘From the employer’s point of view, we’re not going as far as suggesting that they use a crystal ball when interviewing potential candidates, but our study could help explain why leading organisations use more ‘out of the box’ personality profiling tests during recruitment.’

‘For example many companies, especially in the creative industries, match people’s personalities to the culture of their organisation using colour, word and picture associations. Psychometric testing is another example, which assesses aptitude and personality for a particular role.’

Will you get on with each other?

Croner does offer the disclaimer that the findings of this survey ‘could be subjective and may not be suitable for implementation in every workplace situation’. You have been warned!
