Hong Kong MBA students arrive
On 24 April, eight MBA students from University of Hong Kong (HKU) joined the London Business School community. The students hail from a range of nationalities and backgrounds, and will complete four or five electives alongside other degree students at the School. Their arrival stems from a collaborative agreement the School signed with HKU in January 2005. ‘The presence of Hong Kong University students at London Business School brings a deeper and richer understanding of China and the Chinese economy to our whole community,’ says Dean Laura Tyson. The agreement will enable HKU students to attend the School for up to ten weeks to study electives after completing core courses at HKU as part of their MBA course. The class will come from the new MBA programme to be offered by HKU and up to 60 HKU MBA students per year will experience one term of learning in London from 2007. Graduates from the programme will be given alumni status by both HKU and London Business School. The Dean added, ‘London Business School's vision is to be the pre-eminent global business school, nurturing talent and advancing knowledge in a multinational learning environment. This agreement with HKU marks the beginning of our true engagement with China – the world's largest emerging market.’ London Business School's involvement with the region also benefits from its strong Global Advisory Board, Asia, which helps advance the profile and interests of the School in the area.
