Summer School alumni fly flag in Canada

OmniGlobe Networks is one of the fastest growing providers of satellite and wireless delivered broadband in the developing world. The company’s ‘Instant Infrastructure’ is already serving ISPs, business customers and other multi-user organisations with broadband internet access at up to 36Mb/s.

The company was founded by Dr Jason D. Neale and Shyam Kamadolli in 2004 based on their combined twenty-five years of experience in satellite and wireless communications. They are both MBA graduates of London Business School and Columbia Business School, however it was during Neale’s time at London Business School as a student at the Entrepreneurship Summer School that he first suggested the coupling of satellite and wireless technologies to change the cost-benefit ratio for broadband services.

Canadian OmniGlobe Networks is a privately-held, global telecommunications company based in Quebec. The company operates a worldwide data network, which uses satellites and earth-station gateways to route traffic from remote satellite terminals to the North American Internet backbone. With an international customer base from several countries including Kuwait, Iraq, Cyprus, Afghanistan, Poland, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh among others, OmniGlobe seeks to affect change on a global scale by providing reliable and affordable access to information in underserved markets.

Deployment of broadband services in emerging markets (including fringe areas of developed countries) is frequently both technically difficult and cost prohibitive due to the lack of telecommunications infrastructure. The satellite solutions provided by OmniGlobe offer ‘instant infrastructure’; the OmniGlobe Network Platform™ creates long-range (up to 30km) wireless “data cells” with hundreds of subscribers linked through satellite terminals, to the North American Internet backbones via geo-stationary satellites. Users experience broadband connectivity at speeds up to 36mbps

Julian Costley, formerly CEO of E-Trade UK, Globecast NE, a board member of several public companies, first met Neale in his capacity as an Entrepreneurship Summer School mentor at London Business School. Costley now guides the growth of the company as Chairperson of Board of Directors.
