Vodafone’s 7.2 USB Stick

Article Date:  Apr 11 2008

If you're looking to reduce downtime when travelling between meetings but haven’t got your fingers around using a Blackberry keyboard yet, this could be the answer.

Vodafone’s 7.2 USB Stick is a lightweight device, no bigger than a highlighter pen, that plugs straight into your laptop to give you internet access without the hassle of finding a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps, depending on the 3G network availability, are 14 times faster than a standard gadget of this type and, where this is unavailable, service is through 2G networks. 3G coverage is limited to larger towns and cities in the UK and the routes between them, so users in rural areas may have trouble connecting.

The flat-rate pricing means you don't have to worry about extra charges. On a 24-month contract, there is no charge for the device itself and line rental is free for the first six months. After that period it costs £25 per month.

The stick is compatible with both Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X and installing the software is as easy as inserting the CD, following the on-screen instructions and off you browse.
