Lomme offers sweet dreams

Lomme: a 'rejuvenation environment'
Lomme: a 'rejuvenation environment'

With this ‘unique sleep experience’, the only thing keeping you awake will be your credit card bill.

Perhaps that’s why Lomme (which stands for ‘light over matter mind evolution’) is pictured outdoors in the accompanying publicity shot: after parting with £33,000 you might not have a lot left for your mortgage repayments.

The designers at Bouf, based at London’s Borough Market, have spent two years researching sleep habits and problems, and Lomme is the result: a rejuvenation environment (don’t say “bed”) in which light, sound and massage combine to sweep the user away to the Land of Nod.

You can choose the strength and colour of the internal light with a colour wheel, and an iPod has been ‘invisibly installed’ so you can listen to your favourite lullabies. The Lomme mattress offers a choice of massage options, and there’s even a system to block electromagnetic waves and radiation. All this is controlled by an iPhone.

But if the credit crunch has left you out of pocket, you could always cure your insomnia by listening to Alistair Darling’s Pre-Budget Report speech on continuous loop.
