If you ever feel your office is lacking a sense of importance, but aren’t sure exactly how, here’s a way to add some grandeur. For £16,999 and not a penny more, German company Royaris will provide an elaborately crafted reconstruction of King Ludwig II’s desk.
“Mad King Ludwig” as he has sometimes been called (though not to his face) ruled Bavaria from 1864 to 1886. Dr Gerald Federhofer, managing director of Royaris, explains why the company is resurrecting his furniture: ‘The actions of Ludwig II were shaped by the same type of ideas upon which our work is based. He showed absolutely no willingness to compromise in his perfection.’
But if the style of Ludwig II isn’t enough to make you feel like king of the office, the company also produces individual customer requests.
Federhofer adds: ‘It is not only a table or a chair which you can buy, it is the enthusiasm and the ability to create one’s own world.’
Now that should strike a chord with entrepreneurs and dictators everywhere.
