The smallest camcorder in the world

The Sony HD digital camcorder

The march to miniaturise consumer technology continues with this palm-held digital camcorder from Sony.

Measuring about the size of a child’s hand, it’s getting to the point where any smaller would be harder, not easier to handle.

The HDR-TG7VE weighs just 230 grams excluding the battery, making it easy to carry with you wherever you go and whip out whenever there’s something worth recording.

Key features of the camera include a built-in 16GB memory (enough for a few hours of 1080i high-definition footage), smile detection technology and GPS so you can see where your footage was taken.

An impressive package, but in these straitened times, you’ll have to decide whether the gasps of astonishment from your friends at the camera’s Lilliputian proportions are worth its £800-odd price tag.
