The Lifetime Achievement Award seeks to recognise an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the renewable energy sector over a number of years. The judges will be looking for evidence of a tireless commitment to the green agenda – someone who has shown time and again an ability to go against received opinion, fiercely sticking to their own beliefs and principles to introduce groundbreaking ideas in the renewable energy space.
Deal of the Year |
This will recognise and reward the company that the judges deem to have planned and executed the best acquisition, merger or fundraising during the past 12 months. Factors such as business strategy, swiftness of execution and sound financial modelling will all be considered.
Advisory Firm of the Year |
The judges will assess the professional advisory firm (consultant, accountant, lawyer, broker or nomad) that has provided true excellence of service in their area of expertise. The winner will have demonstrated not only exceptional knowledge in the area of renewable energy, but shown great judgement to deliver reliable and high-quality advice to clients.
New Energy Rising Star | Sponsored by: Matrix
The winner of this award will be the small renewable energy business (public or private) that has created a buzz in the market, through either its innovative technology or its potential. Public awareness of the technology and prospects, and the disruptive nature of the company, will be considered, as will any success the business has had in shaping/influencing government policy.

This award will recognise the company that has made the most meaningful progress during the year in terms of its business plan or financial progression, used the stock market most effectively (raising money at the right time and using the funds most astutely) or made the biggest impact in the renewable sector.
Project of the Year |
This award seeks to acknowledge the most ambitious and innovative renewable project undertaken during the past 12 months. Judges will assess projects in the solar power, wind power, biofuel, hydro/wave/tidal power and geothermal power sectors. They will also look at how the project is set to improve energy efficiency, assessing both investment structure and deliverability.
Investor of the Year |
This award will seek to recognise the private equity firm, venture capitalist, business angel, serial investor or investing institution that has done the most to help renewable energy businesses prosper and progress in 2009.
Entrepreneur of the Year | Sponsored by: Redleaf PR
We will be saluting a successful innovator in the renewable space, one that has advanced the cause of their business more effectively than their rivals. The judges will consider a range of criteria, including pioneering products, sales and profits growth, and market penetration.
Developer of the Year |
Rewarding the property developer that has made the greatest efforts to place environmentally friendly and renewable energy features at the heart of its developments.
Retailer of the Year |
Retail chains that have gone the furthest to foster the use of green and new energy techniques, either in their stores or from their suppliers.

Saluting university spin-outs that have produced particularly exciting or groundbreaking new energy research that has been catapulted into the world of business.
Community Project Award |
Projects need to demonstrate:
maximum CO2 reduction.
Projects should demonstrate: how they have cut energy demand through efficiency measures as well as optimising the use of sustainable energy sources, such as district/community-scale systems for heating/cooling/power; long-term viability; that they have been operating for at least a year and that they do not need grant funding to continue and grow; professional management; that they are well managed to maximise the speed and efficiency of implementation and minimise capital and operating costs; replicability and scalability; how they can inspire, support and grow other communities to take action; public benefit; how they contribute both energy and other community benefits to the people they work with.
