Aircall has closed a seed investment round of $2.75M, led by Balderton Capital. The company has built a business phone system it claims is the quickest on the market.

The system does not rely on hardware such as desk-phones, and instead deploys via an app. Users can download this app to their own devices, such as computers, tablets or mobile phones.

Thousands of customer service, sales or marketing teams, in companies like Uber or Deliveroo, use Aircall and its main selling point is helping employees to increase their productivity on phone calls.

The company, founded in Paris, will use this funding to accelerate its growth in both European and US markets and to reinforce its team.

Olivier Pailhes, Aircall’s cofounder and CEO, said: We’re experiencing such a high level of demand from customers that we want to double the team over the next 4-6 months, and accelerate the pace we’re adding features to our product.”

Aircall recently graduated from the 500Startups accelerator in San Francisco, and is actively hiring both in its San Francisco and Paris office. Balderton Capital led the round, along with selected US-based angels and FundersClub.

“Aircall has the potential to transform the business telephony industry through an innovative app-based, collaboration-oriented software,” said Bernard Liautaud, General Partner at Balderton Capital.

“It eliminates the need for traditional phone systems for businesses of any size, and neatly integrates phone communication with companies’ software infrastructures. The company is on a very fast ramp, and we are excited to be able to help grow the company globally,”

“In the past year, the need to transform business telephony and remove the complications around customer service has increased immensely,” added Jerrod Engelberg, head of venture at FundersClub.

We are captivated by the expertise of the founding team, impressed by the quality of customers that have quickly integrated Aircall into their daily operations, and are excited to partner with them.”
